Psyche Asylum was an outgrowth of a foregoing band, Loud Secured Rules, formed in 1981 during guitarist and vocalist Dave Pirner, guitarist and backing choirboy Dan Murphy, bassist Karl Mueller, and drummer Praise Morley.
